How do I make a Slideshow?

If you're a new user and you want to make a Slideshow, just follow these steps:

Go to http://www.slide.com/arrange
Use the tabs on the left side of the 'Add Photos From' section to upload images

My Files: Upload images from your computer by clicking on 'Browse'. Once you've selected an image click on 'Upload'. Tip! Internet Explorer users can take advantage of our "Drag and Drop" bulk uploader. Once you've installed the ActiveX control, drag images into the white box from your desktop. You can also click 'Select Images' to browser through folders and upload images that way.
Friendster: Enter your Friendster URL (works with both groups and profiles) and click 'Get my photos'
Bebo: Enter your username and password for Bebo and click 'Get my photos' to import the images associated with your account
MySpace: Enter your MySpace profile URL in the text field and click on 'Get my photos'
Tagged: Enter your Tagged email address and click 'Get my photos' to import the images associated with your account
Slide: Click on 'Get' to choose from your Hosted Images, Slideshows, or you can click 'All' to make one big Slideshow from all images you've ever uploaded to Slide!
Photobucket*: Enter your username and password for Photobucket to import your albums. Select the album you'd like to import images from, click on the image and click 'Paste Image'. Use the arrows near the top to toggle through the pages in your album to find pictures to import
Facebook: Click 'Get' to sign into your Facebook account. Once you've signed in, you'll be able to select which albums you want to import.
Flickr: Enter your Username and click 'OK'. You can then select which set you'd like to import from the drop down menu
Image URL: paste the URL of a photo hosted on any site into the space provided and click 'Link'. Tip: To find the Image URL, right-mouse-click on an image, choose Properties, and copy the Image Address

Search: Enter a search term and click on 'Search' to import images from other Slideshows on our site related to your search term

Use the options under 'Customize' to select a different style, skin, the theme, and set the privacy level
Under the 'Save' button, re-arrange or delete photos and add different colored captions
Once you've got your Slideshow looking the way you want, click on the 'Save' button
You can either automatically add your Slideshow to your profile or blog by selecting the site you want on the left, or you can copy the code and add it to your personal website!

* Unfortunately Safari users can't use the 'Photobucket' tab. If you are on a Mac, you can us the Firefox browser to see this option.

Can I save my Slideshow to my computer or to a CD/DVD?

Unfortunately we currently don't have an option that allows you to download a Slideshow to your hard drive or a CD/DVD, but you can download the Slide application to your Desktop to watch your Slideshows as a Screensaver. To make your Slideshow your Screensaver, first download the Slide app. Slide can be downloaded by clicking here

Once you've downloaded Slide and logged into your account, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Windows 'Start' button
Choose 'Control Panel'
Double-click on the 'Display' icon. You should see a 'Screensaver' tab
On that tab is a 'Screensaver' popup with all your Screen Savers listed. Choose 'Slide Screensaver' and hit OK

Makeing your Slideshow private means only the people you share you're Slideshow with can see it. Keep in mind if you post your Slideshow on another site (like MySpace or Hi5), this is considered "Sharing".

How can I add a theme to my Slideshow?

When you're on the 'Edit & Add Photos' page, click on the 'Themes!!' tab under the 'Customize' section. Click on the theme you would like to add to your Slideshow and click on the green 'Save' button.

How can I re-arrange my photos in my Slideshow?

Once you've uploaded photos you'll see thumbnail images under the section that says 'DRAG to order photos. Or add some captions'. Simply mouse over the picture you want to move, click and drag the image to the location you want. After a moment your Slideshow will update to reflect your changes. Don't forget to click the green 'Save' button to make these changes permanent.

How do I select a different style?

Once you've uploaded photos you'll see a 'Styles!!' tab under the 'Customize' section. Select the style you'd like and after a moment the Slideshow will switch to the Style you selected. Click the green 'Save' button to save your changes.

How can I delete a photo?

Scroll down to the 'DRAG to order photos. Or add some captions' section. On each image you'll see a little red 'X'. Click on that and the image will disappear from the Slideshow.

How do I edit the captions under my photos?

Scroll down to the 'DRAG to order photos. Or add some captions' section. Under each photo you'll see a text box. Simply click in that box and type in your caption. Make sure to click outside of the text box or click the 'Enter' key on your keyboard to get the caption to update in the Slideshow preview.

How do I change the color and size of my captions?

While editing a Slideshow, you'll see an option under the 'DRAG to order photos. Or add some captions' section that says 'Captions'. Here you can select how big you'd like your captions to be, what you want the text color to be, and the background color. Clicking on the color box under 'Color' or 'Background' will bring up a color palette that you can use to select the color.

If you want to make your 'Sliding' style Slideshow vertical, simply select the vertical pre-set option, or make sure the number value to 'Height' is greater than the number value for 'Width'

Yes, there is! To get started, please follow the steps below:

Is there an easy way to look at all the images in a Slideshow?

Yes, there is! If you see a Slideshow posted to another site, click on the 'View All Images' button below the Slideshow. This will bring up a page that will display the images in a Gallery view and you can also click on the thumbnails at the bottom to look at specific images. The 'Play & View all Images' option is also available on your 'My Slide' page.

How do I change the preview image for my Slideshow?

To change the preview image for your Slideshow, please follow these steps:

Under the 'Slideshows' tab, click on 'Play & View all images'
Click on the image you want to make the default image for the Slideshow
You should be redirected to the image detail page. Under the image you'll see an option that says 'Set as my Slideshow photo'

Please note you will only see this option for images you've uploaded directly to Slide. If you've imported images from other sites you won't be able to set those images as the preview image for your Slideshow.

I'm only able to upload one image from my Friendster profile. How can I import all of my images?

We currently don't have the ability to import images from private Friendster profiles. If you would like to import your Friendster pictures, please first make your profile is public by following the steps below:

I'm having difficulty importing my images from Flickr. How can I import all of my images?

In order to retrieve images from Flickr to your Slideshow, please make sure you are not hidden from searches or blocking 3rd party API calls, and that your sets are set to "public". To configure your privacy settings properly, please begin by signing into to your Flickr account. Below are the sections you will need to review in order to ensure you can import your images to Slide.com:

Changing images from "private" to "public":

Login to Flickr
Click on 'Organize' at the top
Use the options along the bottom to grab a group of images, or simply use the scroll bar and select the specific images you'd like to change the privacy settings on
Once you've selected the images, click on 'Permissions' at the top and select 'Who can see, comment and tag?'
Select 'Anyone' and hit 'Change Permissions'

If your images are set to public, you'll need to change your account privacy settings by following the steps below:

Access your Privacy page
Click on the 'Edit' link next to "Hide your stuff from public searches"
Make sure the following options do not have a check mark next to them:

Hide your photostream from site-wide searches on flickr.com?
Hide your photostream from searches on 3rd party sites that use the API?
Hide me from searches?

Click on 'Save'

Once you complete these steps, you may return to Slide.com and create a Slideshow from your images hosted on Flickr.

How can I make my Slideshow play continuously on a loop?

You can make your Slideshow play continuously on a loop by disabling the pop-up menu feature. You must make your Slideshow Private (*) and then disable the Comments and Ratings in your account.

To make your Slideshow private, follow these steps:

Click on "Edit & Add Photos" next to your Slideshow
Click on the "Privacy" tab on the right side of the page
Click on the 'Slide' tab and click on 'Get'
Choose "Private - Only visible to people you share with"
Press the "Save" button

To disable Ratings and Comments, follow these steps:

Click on the "Edit Settings" link at the top of your "My Slide" page
Disable Ratings by selecting "No: Don't let people rate my stuff"
Disable Comments by selecting "No: Don't let people comment on my stuff"
Under the 'Customize' section, click on the 'Size' tab
Your changes will be automatically applied to all of your Slideshows (it may take a minute or two)

* Note about privacy: The privacy setting will also prevent other people from stealing/copying your photos using the right click menu options. If you want to test this, you must sign out of your Slide account first. As the owner of the Slideshow, you always have full access to all the images. Only other people will be blocked

How do I add music to my Slideshow?

To add a song to your Slideshow, please follow these steps:

Upload some images through the 'Add photos from' options on the left
Click on the 'Music' tab under the 'Customize' section

Once you've found a song that you like, click on 'Add' under the song title
Further customize you're Slideshow by adding a style, theme and skin
When you're done, click on 'Save'

Of course! Next to every song title there's a 'Listen' option that will play the first 30 seconds of the song. You're also welcome to add the song to your Slideshow if you want to listen to the whole thing. Click on the "Delete" button in the confirmation window that opens

Depending on the background layout of your profile, it may be difficult to see the 'x' box, or not see it at all. If this is the case, please move your cursor over the top right-hand corner, just above the edge of the Slideshow and the 'x' box will then appear.

How do I turn my Facebook album into a Slideshow?

Now you can turn your albums on Facebook into cool Slideshows to display on your profile! To get started, just follow these steps:

Login to www.facebook.comand click on 'Applications' on the left
Click on 'Browse more applications' in the upper right hand corner
Under 'Search app', enter 'Slide'
Click on the Slide application to install
Once the application has been installed, you'll be taken to a page that displays all of your Facebook albums. Click on 'Customize Slideshow' to add cool effects like Music, Themes, Skins and Styles
Check the 'Show on Profile' box under the album you want to display on your Facebook profile
Show off your new Slideshow to your Facebook friends! Click on 'Share' in the upper right hand corner and type in the name of the friends you'd like to send your Slideshow to.

How can I remove a Slideshow from my Hi5 profile?

Please note that if you edit a Slideshow, FunPix, or Guestbook at Slide.com, there is no need to repost it to Hi5. Any changes you make will automatically be reflected in your Hi5 profile as soon as you click on the "Save" button. To remove a Slideshow, Guestbook, or FunPix from Hi5, you need to delete it from your Hi5 profile, not from your Slide.com account. If you delete it from Slide.com and not your Hi5 profile, you will see a placeholder that says it is temporarily unavailable or that it has been deleted. I may be able to retrieve your deleted Slideshows at Slide.com if you didn't want to permanently remove them from our website. Just let me know and I'll try to locate them.

There are several places you can add a Slide Show in your Hi5 profile. Each location requires different steps to remove it. I will review the three places below: Widget, About Me/Interests, and there are also some sections that Hi5 recently removed where your code might still appear (Favorite Games, etc.).

To remove your Slideshow from your Hi5 profile on your widget section, please follow the steps below:

Scroll all the way down to the 'Widget' section on your left
Right under your Slideshow click on 'delete' and you are done

If you want to remove a Slideshow from your "About Me" or "Interest" sections, please follow the steps below:

You'll need to contact Hi5 and request that they add the edit pages for these sections back to your account or to remove the Slideshow code for you

If you forgot your password, go to www.slide.com and click on the 'Forgot Password?' link under the sign in area on the right. Enter the email address you used to sign up, and we'll send you your username and a link that lets you set a new password.

Attention MSN and Hotmail members! If you don't see your password reminder email in your inbox, make sure to check your spam folder. If this email does end up in your spam folder, simply move it back to your inbox. Keep in mind you won't be able to click on any links within emails in your spam folder.

What is a personal Slide URL?

A personal Slide URL is like a personal address on our site. For instance, if you want to change your Slide URL to 'Max', your Slide address will be http://max.slide.com. You can also use your Slide URL to sign in once you've selected one!

To choose a personal Slide URL, simply login to your Slide account and click on the 'Choose your personal Slide URL' link right above your Slideshows tab. Enter your Slide URL into the text field and click on 'Submit'. Once you choose a new Slide URL you won't be able to change it again, so make sure you choose carefully.

How do I change the email address associated with my account?

To change the email address that's associated with your account, please follow the steps below:

Add your new email address under the 'Email Addresses' section
A verification email will be set to the email address you entered. Click on the link within the email to verify your account
Once you've verified your email address, go back to the 'Edit Settings' page within your Slide account. Click on 'Set as Primary' next to your new email address
At this point you'll have the option of deleting the other email address attached to your account

How do I delete a Slideshow from my Slide account?

If you have a bunch of Slideshows under your 'My Slide' section that you don't have posted on a site, then you can delete them by logging into your Slide account and clicking on the trash can icon to the right of the Slideshow. Please keep in mind that if you need to remove a Slideshow from another site, like MySpace or Hi5 you need to remove the Slideshow code from your account on that site instead of deleting it from your 'My Slide' page.

Being someone's fan means only that fan gets contacted when a member creates something. If you're someone's friend, you're both contacted when you create something new. Here's an example.

Fans: Morgan is a fan of Tony. If Tony creates a new Slideshow, Morgan is notified. However Tony is not notified if Morgan creates a new Slideshow.

Friends: Morgan and Tony are friends. They both get notified when they create new things on Slide.

With the Slide desktop application you'll be able to easily upload images and create Slideshows with a click of a button, start the Slide Screensaver, or access your Slide account. Unfortunately the Slide desktop application is currently only supported on the OSX Tiger, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. We are working on a version for Windows Vista.

Why do I see Slideshows that I didn't create in my Slide Screensaver?

If you see Slideshows you know you didn't create in your Screensaver, you're more than likely seeing some of Slide's Featured Slideshows. If you don't want to see these, that's ok! Just follow these steps to remove them from your Now Playing list:

Start the Slide Screensaver
Click on the 'Menu' button in the top-left
Click on 'Playlist'
You should see a list of your Slideshows. Click on the 'Remove from Playlist' button underneath any Slideshow to stop it from playing

Can I get my Slide Screensaver to play when I'm offline?

Because of how the Screensaver gets information to play your Slideshows, it doesn't work when you're offline. The Screensaver constantly checks Slide.com for updates to the Slideshows in your playlist.

Help! I downloaded the Slide Screensaver and I don't see any of my Slideshows!

If you don't see your Slideshows playing in the Slide Player, you may have downloaded it without being signed into your account. Not to worry though! Just click on the Slide icon within your system tray and select 'Switch User'. A window will open to let you log into your account.

Help! I cant get my Slide Screensaver to play!

This can be caused by a couple of things. First, if the Slide Screensaver doesn't launch, check to make sure it's set as your Screensaver by following these steps:

Right-click on your Desktop and select 'Properties'
Click on the 'Screen Saver' tab
Make sure the selected screen saver says 'SlideSS'
If it does, click 'OK'

If you don't see your Slideshows listed, you'll want to make sure you're signed into your account. To sign into your account, click on the Slide icon in the lower right corner (or you system tray) and select 'Switch user'. Type in your email address and password and within moments you should see your Slideshows playing within the Slide Player on your desktop.

And lastly, if you have an Internet Security Application, like Nortons Internet Security, ZoneAlarm, MacAfee, etc, it's possible this application is blocking the Screensaver. Make sure that SlideSS.exe is listed as one of the allowed applications.

How do I disable the Slide Screensaver?

To disable the Slide Screensaver, please follow the steps below:

Click on the Windows 'Start' button
Choose 'Control Panel'
Double-click on the 'Display' icon
Click on the 'Screensaver' tab
On that tab is a 'Screensaver' drop-down menu with all your Screen Savers listed. You may either select a different screen saver or choose '(None)'
Click 'Ok'

How do I remove the Slide application from my computer?

Keep in mind performing this action will remove the Screensaver and the Desktop application from your machine. To do this, just follow these steps:

Make sure the Slide Program has been closed by accessing the task bar, right clicking on the Slide Icon and select 'Exit'
Access the Start Menu
Go to 'Settings'
Click on 'Control Panel'
Click on 'Add/Remove Programs'
Locate Slide on this list and click the 'Remove' button
Reboot your machine

What styles work with my screensaver?

To change your style on your Slideshow, follow these steps:

When your Screensaver is playing, click on the 'Menu' button in the top-left corner

Slide Skins

What's in it for me?

Good question. We don't pay you for your Skins, but it is possible that by submitting a Skin, you will receive your allotted ten minutes of fame. We will attribute any featured Skins to its creator, with a link to that user's profile. On the other hand, it is possible that your Skins will never be featured, or be seen by anyone other than your friends. Fame can be fickle.

Also, we ask that you give us certain rights, such as the right to modify, reproduce and distribute your Skins or any modified versions of your Skins. The rights you give us are necessary to allow us to provide the Slide Service.

Finally, it is very important that you not use content in your Skins that belongs to someone else (copyrighted images, for example). That would be bad, like crossing the streams.

Troubleshooting tips

I'm getting an automation error when I try to save my Slideshow. How can I fix this?

The error message you are receiving is caused by a missing file within your Internet Explorer. First, you'll want to reboot your computer and try again. If that doesn't work this issue can usually be resolved by accessing the 'Run' option under your Start Menu and entering the following:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

If that doesn't work you'll need to reinstall Internet Explorer. Or, you could download Firefox by clicking here

You won't have an option to upload multiple images with Firefox, but you can with the Slide Desktop application and Screensaver! To do this, please follow the steps below:

If you haven't downloaded the Slide desktop application, login to www.slide.com and click on the 'Download Slide' link on your 'My Slide' page
Once you've installed Slide, sign in to your account
Click on the 'S' icon in your system tray and you'll see the option to create a new Slideshow, or you can add these photos to a Slideshow you've already created!

Why am I getting a "This is a private account. Please try another" message when I type in my Friendster URL?

We currently don't have the ability to import images from private Friendster profiles. If you would like to import your Friendster pictures, please first make your profile public by following the steps below:

1. Login to www.friendster.com
Click on 'Edit Profile'
Click on 'Edit account'
Under 'Privacy Settings', change 'Who Can View My Full Profile' to 'Anyone'
Click 'Save'

Once your profile is public you can return to Slide.com to create your Slideshow.

Why can't I find the Easy Uploader?

The Easy Uploader is available in Internet Explorer for most operating systems such as Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However it is not available in Windows Vista due to compatibility problems on that platform.

Why am I only seeing colored boxes where my images should be?

This can be caused by a couple of things:

Are you using an AOL Browser?

You'll need to disable the graphics compression within your browser. Follow these steps to turn image compression off:

On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon
Click the Internet (Web) Options link
On the TopSpeed tab, under Web Graphics Compression, click Never compress graphics
Click the Save button

You can also use another browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer (non-AOL version).

Are you using Firefox or Internet Explorer?

Make sure your running the most recent version of Flash. To download the most up to date version of Flash, please click here

Are you importing images from Photobucket, MySpace, or another site?

If you're importing images from another site that aren't jpegs, they won't display in your Slideshow. We suggest these images be downloaded to your computer, and then re-uploaded to our site directly from your hard drive.

Why do I only see code and not the Slideshow on my Friendster profile?

If you only see the code for your Slideshow in your Friendster profile and any of your friends' profiles, you probably have 'Safe Mode' set to 'Yes'. If you enable the 'Safe Mode' setting, you won't see any html, media, or CSS in profiles. The 'Safe Mode' disables those features.

To turn off 'Safe Mode' please follow these steps:

Sign in to friendster.com
Click on the 'Setting' link in the top right of any page
Scroll down to the Privacy section and you'll see 'Safe Mode'
Make sure it is set 'Safe Mode' to 'NO' and then click on 'Save' at the bottom of the page
Now you should be able to see Slideshows and other multimedia

Why am I getting an error message when I try to install the Slide application?

If you have Windows XP and you're getting an error message when you try to install the Slide application it's most likely you haven't upgraded to Service pack 2. To install SP2, simply click on your Start Menu and select 'Windows Updates'. Installing all the recommended software should include SP2. After that just restart your computer and try to install the Slide software again.

Why can't I login to my Slide account?

If you're unable to login to your account, the information below may help:

Your email address is your username. Make sure to use the email address you registered with
Make sure your caplocks if off, as the login field is case sensitive.
Disable any proxy connections within your browser
Make sure you're using one the following browsers:

Internet Explorer 6.0 or above
FireFox 1.0.7 or above
Safari 2.0.3 or above

This can also happen if you don't have cookies enabled in your browser. To enable cookies in IE 7.0, please follow the steps below:

Click on 'Tools' in the upper right hand corner (next to the 'Cog' icon)
Click on the 'Privacy' tab
Click on 'Advanced'
Click on 'Override automatic cookie handling'
Make sure 'Accept' is selected for both First-Party cookies and Third-Party Cookies
Click on 'Ok'
Click on 'Ok' again
Close your browser and launch a new one

To enable cookies in AOL 9.0, please follow the steps below:

Click Settings at the top
Go to Browser Settings under 'B'
Click on 'Internet Explorer settings' on the far right

Why can't I see my Slideshow on my MySpace profile?

This can be caused by a couple of different things. First off, you'll want to make sure you're using one of the following browsers:

Internet Explorer 6.0 or above
FireFox 1.5 or above
Safari 2.0.3 or above

You'll also want to make sure you've got the most recent version of Flash. To download Flash, please visit the Macromedia Flash website.

Are you on dial-up? Have a web accelerator? Try disabling it and see if the Slideshow comes up.

If you're only having difficulties viewing a Slideshow on MySpace, it might be caused by the layout code within your profile. Our Community Support Team can help you locate the exact cause of the issue if you email us with a link to your profile. Don't forget to make your profile Public so we can take a look at it!

If you're still unable to view your Slideshow, make sure to clear your browser cache and cookies. To do this in Internet Explorer, please follow the steps below:

Click on 'Tools' at the top of the browser
Select 'Internet Options'
Under the 'Temporary Internet Files' section click on 'Delete Files' and 'Delete Cookies'
Close out of your browser and launch a new one

Why do I have two or more of the same Slideshow in my profile?

This can be caused by two things:

If you clicked the 'Add' button more than once when attempting to automatically add your Slideshow to your MySpace profile, you'll have multiple Slideshows on your profile
If you edited a Slideshow you currently have on your profile and automatically added it again, you'll have multiple Slideshows in your profile

Next time when you update your Slideshow, you do not have to automatically add your Slideshow back to your profile, nor do you have to do anything to the Slideshow that is in your profile. Your changes should be reflected automatically after you update your Slideshow and click on the 'Save' button.

Please keep in mind that if you need to remove a Slideshow from another site, like MySpace or Hi5, you need to remove the Slideshow code from your account on that site instead of deleting it from your 'My Slide' page.

To remove a Slideshow from your MySpace profile, please follow these steps:

Login to www.myspace.com
Click 'Edit Profile' on the top left corner next to your profile image
Remove the Slideshow code from that section. Each Slideshow has its OWN code.

I just edited a Slideshow and automatically added it to my MySpace profile - why didn't it replace the one I already have in there?

The auto-add feature doesn't replace code if you already have a Slideshow in your profile. If you edit a Slideshow that's already in your profile, just wait for a few minutes. It will update with the changes you've made. You don't need to add the code to your profile again to see these changes.

Why am I seeing a Slideshow on my MySpace Profile that says "Slideshow Temporarily Unavailable"?

You'll see this message if you deleted a Slideshow from your 'My Slide' page. You can remove these Slideshows just by removing the code from your MySpace profile.

Why can't I see the captions for the Slideshow?

There's an issue with captions on MySpace due to an Internet Explorer upgrade that was made by Microsoft a few months ago. All you need to do to see your captions is click on the Slideshow. Also, keep in mind that if your Slideshow is in the Collage or Sliding style, you'll need to mouse over an image to see its caption.

We're looking into different options regarding the Microsoft update, but in the meantime members viewing your Slideshow in Internet Explorer will need to click on it before they can interact with the Slideshow.

Please keep in mind the box will not display around the Slideshow when viewed through another browser, like Firefox. If you would like to download the Firefox browser, click here.

If you're having trouble saving changes to your Slideshow, the issue may be your browser. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies- follow these steps:
